The Tea Creek Back Country

April is goat kidding month and ties us down for about 2 months so we got out at the end of March for an overnight backpacking trip.

First once we got in the mountains we stopped at Cranberry Glades

Then we hopped back in the truck and drove to Tea Creek

Finally after about 2.7 miles we got to the shelter we planned to stay at.

Originally we planned to do an 8 mile loop back to our truck the next day but the weather was expected to get worse so we just opted for an overnight in and out.

Ms HD made camp and got the fire going while I went foraging

The ramps were just coming up!

They were deep. I carved a digggin stick to pop them out of the ground

Sauteed in ginger and tamari over an alcohol stove and served with couscous cheese and cashews :thumb!:

The next day it was raining ice and it was on the roof of the shelter

We took a side trail back down that required a steep climb to avoid a washout

Back in the car and up on the mountain the ice storm had begun serious
