And little bit more...from Senad

Good way to keep your food fresh - mountain spring water. That's all we need - beer, vine, eggs, meat, and live fish...

This is taken from an old road the pioneers used to cross the mountains in their wagons, near Rocky Mtn Nat'l Park in Colorado.

And below are the aspens, near Grand Lake Colorado.

I had a really crummy camera at the time.

Fall is my favorite time of year for hiking and camping.

Yes, fall is certainly my favorite time to be out.

Those are pretty neat little shelters. You could probably spend a cold night pretty comfortably in one of those.

I read in some other topic that those were War of 1812 grave sites. Was there a battle fought in the vicinity? Earlier this summer we went to the Brandywine Battlefield site near Philadelphia. It was pretty neat but difficult to imagine. Too much traffic noise, I suppose. That and the rolling woodlands did not allow you to envision the overall area of the action.

Yeah, they're great in cold weather. Hang a couple of tarps over the openings and get a fire going and you'll roast yourself! I generally end up out of my sleeping bag pretty fast in there, at least until the fire dies down during the night.

Here's an inside view:

Re: War of 1812

You know, I'm sort of ashamed to say I don't really know if there were any battles fought around here or if it was just war vets buried back at home. I know this area saw a lot of French and Indian War battles but I'm not really sure about the later stuff.

BigT, convert/resize the scanner's format to jpp.
Use irfanview, http://www.irfanview.us/, or the Gimp (available on our image uploading page) to do this, they are FREE and work well.
